Shadowed Straw

as the Sun sets behind shadows

of straw in the field behind

my childhood home I breath

in memories of innocence

freedom and careless youth

I squint into waves

as they disappear one on top

of each other in time with my

age and life crashes in barrels

around me the first star blinks

just in time my kids giggle complete

in semi-darkness I am renewed
